What happens in your browser

Every tool on TuneStand (the metronome, chromatic tuner, tone generator, tap tempo and note frequency chart) runs entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. There is no account system, nothing to install and no server that processes your audio.

The tuner asks for microphone access so it can detect pitch. That audio is analysed locally on your device and is never recorded, stored or transmitted anywhere. You can revoke microphone permission at any time in your browser settings, and the other tools work without it.

Analytics, and why there is no cookie banner

As of 5 August 2026 TuneStand sets no cookies at all and loads no analytics script. You can verify that yourself: open the browser console on any page and type document.cookie. It returns an empty string.

If usage measurement is added later, it will be a cookieless, EU-hosted or self-hosted analytics product such as Plausible, Umami or Fathom, which counts page views and events without storing anything on your device and without collecting personal data. Google Analytics is deliberately excluded, because it would require a consent banner, and a consent banner on a site whose whole promise is that nothing leaves your tab costs more than the data is worth.

What such analytics would record: which page was viewed, and named events like the metronome being started or the tuner being granted microphone access, so the site can tell how many people give up at the permission dialog. What it would never record: your microphone audio, the pitch it detected, or anything derived from what you play. That data never leaves your browser, and there is no server here to send it to.

The site does store a few settings in your browser's local storage, purely so it can remember your own setup: your last metronome tempo, time signature and accent setting, and whether you previously granted microphone access. That data stays on your device, is never sent anywhere, and clearing your browser storage removes it.

Cookies and ads, if they are ever switched on

TuneStand keeps a small footprint by design. That said, the site may show ads served by third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdSense or Ezoic) and may use basic analytics to see which tools are useful and where to improve. Ad and analytics providers can set cookies or use similar technology in your browser to serve and measure ads, and may process standard technical information such as your approximate location and device type for that purpose.

If you visit from the EEA, UK or another region with similar rules, you will be asked to give or withhold consent before any non-essential cookie or personalized ad loads, through a consent tool built for that purpose. You can change your choice at any time from that same consent control. TuneStand does not itself build profiles of visitors or sell personal data.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel may process standard technical request data (such as IP addresses) in server logs to deliver the pages and keep the service secure. See the Vercel privacy policy for details on how they handle that data.

Your choices

You can block or clear cookies at any time in your browser settings, use the consent control mentioned above where it is shown, and revoke microphone access from your browser or device settings. Blocking cookies may make ads less relevant but will not stop the tools from working.

Changes

This page is kept up to date as the site changes, for example when ads, analytics or a consent tool are turned on or adjusted, so it always describes what actually runs.
